Thank you for visiting my fundraising page

I’m walking 80K this February to raise much needed funds for Women’s Aid.

Across Ireland one in three women live with suffocating abuse from someone they once loved; someone they once trusted. Every 5 minutes, someone reaches out to Women’s Aid for information and support.

Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate a lot or a little, anything helps. I hope you can support me by donating whatever you can. By supporting Women’s Aid you can change lives, and save lives.

Simply click the Donate button. All donations are processed securely. You can also share my page using Share options below. This is a great way to show your support.

Thanks so much for your support, it will bring hope, healing and the possibility of a brighter future for women and children.

Challenge completed

Sunday 1st Mar
All 80km completed despite all the rain (not a single dry day), harsh winter temps, overcoming a foot injury, a head cold, and finding time in between work and single parent life. For me, it was important to follow through, and find a way to be a part of the solution. I wish to thank everybody who supported this cause, contributing resources and encouragement. I’m so proud to be associated with a charity that provides services to help aid survivors of domestic violence. Hopefully one day it won’t be necessary but until then I stand with Survivors.

A little each day makes light work

Friday 6th Feb
Day 5 and I had my little 8 yr old man accompany me on my walk which was nice to have some company, and for him to be a part of this challenge.

Day 6 and took the opportunity to walk into work, in the rain, but that’s ok. A bit of discomfort never hurt anyone. Plans are all up in the air with a turn of events last night so will have to figure out a new plan for the weekend kms.

Delighted with the donations so far though! Thanks to all contributors, the kitty is up to €330, and hopefully a few more to come in 😊

Appreciating small moments

Wednesday 4th Feb
Day 4 and 20km done and dusted! Took it handy with 2km in splits but had a lovely moment with a Blue Tit by the canal. It was just sitting there on the wall as I passed, completely unbothered by my presence. Was delighted it was still enough that I could take a few photos as they’re constantly on the move.

When the rain comes you still gotta walk

Tuesday 3rd Feb
Day 3 - it’s a work day so going to break my walk into sections to stay on target. Started off by parking at the far carpark and walking into the office, it wasn’t quite 1km so extended the walk around town. It’s raining too so will have to see if lunch time is feasible 🤔☔️ Ended up making it out at lunch with a light drizzle of rain, 3km walked and a sneaky sausage roll for good behaviour 😄

Every step matters

Monday 2nd Feb
Day 2 of the walking challenge. Determined to meet the 80km target so took advantage of Shaun being home and have him keep an eye on the little man whilst I headed off under the dreary grey skies. (Single mother life). Did a loop around town and on the last kilometre a couple of Gold Finches landed in a tree near the river, chirping away and moving from branch to branch. A lovely sight to behold, and a reminder spring is on its way!

Day One

Sunday 1st Feb
Kicking off the 1st day of the walking challenge by doing a loop to Lees Road Recreational Park. Got lucky with such beautiful weather. This is one of my favourite local walks. Now trying to figure out my schedule to ensure I meet my target of 80km in 28 days.

Taking steps to help those in our community

Friday 30th Jan
Hi, I’m taking on the challenge of walking 80km in February to raise much needed funding for WomensAid for resources that assist victims of domestic violence.
A few facts about it, in 2024 WomensAid had over 32,000 contacts with over 46,000 disclosures of abuse. There was also over 65,000 incidences Gardai responded to (that’s 1,250 per week). Over 263,000 visited www.womensaid.ie. 1 in four women experienced sexual violence as an adult by a partner.
Domestic violence is not an individual issue, or just a women’s issue, but a societal one.
Anybody that knows me personally is  aware that I too left domestic violence, now I’m on the other side of it, and I partly attribute that to services such as WomensAid. This is my way of paying it forward and helping others in need.
If you are able to support this cause, I’d be very appreciative.
