I'm running 100K in October

Hey everyone 👋🏻

This October, I’m taking part in the “Run 100km in October” challenge in support of Women’s Aid Ireland — to help raise awareness and vital funds for those affected by domestic abuse. 💜

Women’s Aid is a national feminist organisation that has been working since 1974 to prevent and address the devastating impact of domestic violence and abuse, including coercive control.

Their work provides essential support, advocacy, and education for women experiencing abuse in intimate relationships. Through public awareness campaigns, policy reform, and professional training, Women’s Aid continues to strengthen Ireland’s national response to gender-based violence.

Their mission is simple yet powerful — to create a society where women and children are free and safe from all forms of domestic abuse and coercive control.

Key statistics in Ireland:

  • 35% of women — more than one in three — have experienced psychological, physical, and/or sexual abuse from an intimate partner.
  • 1 in 4 women (25%) have experienced sexual violence as an adult, including by a partner.
  • In 2024, there were 32,144 contacts with Women’s Aid, including 24,396 to the 24-hour National Freephone Helpline.
  • Garda Síochána responded to over 65,000 domestic abuse incidents in 2024 — that’s an average of 1,250 incidents every week.

If you or someone you know has been affected by domestic abuse, Women’s Aid is here to help.

Call National Freephone Helpline: 800 341 900 - available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Thank you so much for your support. I will take on this challenge with pride, and commit to complete every kilometre with purpose and pride 👟 Every step counts 💜

Quarter Way Mark!

Friday 10th Oct
I was not in the mood for running this morning by any means. But I am so happy I pushed myself to go. I Managed to clock up another 10km (by some miracle!), bringing me up to the quarter way mark! ☺️

Looks like I’m on track to completing 100km before October 31st. Thank you so much for all of the donations so far - you encourage me to push myself  - especially on days like these where motivation is low ! 💜

First 6.5km Complete
