Helping Women’s Aid
Saturday 31st JanThis February, I’m walking 80 kilometres to raise funds for Women’s Aid.
Across Ireland, one in three women experience abuse from someone they once loved and trusted. That’s not a distant statistic – it’s women in our communities, our workplaces, our families. And every five minutes, someone reaches out to Women’s Aid looking for information, support, or a way forward.
I’m taking on this walk because those numbers matter. Because support services matter. And because access to help, at the right moment, can change – and save – lives.
This isn’t about fitness or chasing a goal. It’s about doing something steady and practical, over the course of a month, in support of an organisation that does steady, practical work every single day.
As a woman, a mother, and someone who works closely with women and families, I’m very aware that abuse isn’t always visible. It’s often quiet, controlling, and isolating. Many women live with it silently for a long time before reaching out – if they’re able to reach out at all.
If you’re in a position to donate, thank you. Every contribution helps Women’s Aid continue to provide information, advocacy, and support to women and children across Ireland. And if donating isn’t possible right now, sharing this page still makes a difference.
I’m grateful for your support, in whatever form it takes. It truly matters.
