Across Ireland one in three women live with suffocating abuse from someone they once loved; someone they once trusted. Every 5 minutes, someone reaches out to Women’s Aid for information and support.

Coercive Control - A Slow Burner
Friday 30th Oct It started slow, so slow I didn't notice, so slow that it was normal. Coercive Control is like that, sometimes you don't realise how deep you are in it. I was isolated from family and friends, he made me his everything, made me so important that I had no idea I was under his control. I was the sole income but he controlled my bank account, I was the car owner but he drove me everywhere, he was off all day but I came home from work to cook and clean. He was cheating but I was the one being accused...daily. Constantly being told I was a slut, a whore sleeping around, I nearly started to believe it. He was never violent to me, there was violence around me. Punched holes in walls, smashed household items, anger so much anger. I had to protect my kids. 3 years after deciding my marriage was over I finally managed to end it all. I got away from him. And I have never looked back. ShareThank you to my Sponsors
