Thank you for visiting my fundraising page

I’m hosting a coffee morning this International Women's Day to raise much needed funds for Women’s Aid.

Across Ireland one in three women live with suffocating abuse from someone they once loved; someone they once trusted. Every 5 minutes, someone reaches out to Women’s Aid for information and support.

Your support will bring hope, healing and the possibility of a brighter future for women and children. Simply click the Donate button. All donations are processed securely. You can also share my page using Share options below. I hope you can support me by donating whatever you can.

My history

Wednesday 5th Mar
My mother suffered domestic violence for almost 20 years with my father. It wasn't easy for her and for us, as there were three of us daughters. At the time, I didn't understand and I felt angry with my mother because she couldn't get out of that relationship. When you grow up in that kind of environment, it has a huge impact and causes a lot of emotional wounds and trauma. Another very dangerous thing for children is that they repeat it in the future or are very afraid of getting emotionally involved. When I became an adult, I thought I needed to seek understanding. I needed to understand my father. Why did he do that? I need to help families who find themselves in that situation. At that time, I went to college to study Social Work. During my studies, I understood a lot about human beings and what it involves. At that time, I also understood the aggressor: my father was also a victim of domestic violence. He chose to reproduce it when he grew up. That's what he knew. I also understood my mother, and I understood that she lived in an emotional prison. She didn't feel capable of leaving that relationship. She was afraid of not being able to raise us alone. The psychological aggression, more than the physical one, makes you think that you are not capable. But you are! My mother managed it and today she lives a good and full life. I'm sure you can too. The path to freedom is not easy. It takes a lot of courage and support, but you can do it.
